Hitch
By: Patrick Vu | Category: DVD Archive | 02/21/05 | 08:30 PM
PM Rating System Grade: B | Genre: Romantic Comedy
Summary: Will Smith can do it all and does it in Hitch. The movie is nothing new or profound...just a safe bet date movie worth admission.

HitchStaring: Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James
Director: Andy Tennant

Will Smith can do no wrong. He's got unbelievable cross-over appeal and is able to play any role convincingly. His streak of number one opening weekends continues with Hitch where we see him, not saving us from aliens or robots, but saving us from ourselves when it comes to love and women (I feel like I'm going to throw up).

Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Smith) is a "date-doctor" helping dating-impaired men make love connections with the women of their dreams. He's smooth talking, always confident, and is obliged to pass his skills to all males...for a price of course.

The irony is that for all that he is able to teach his clients, he is unable to utlilize for himself, when Sara (Mendes) wins his affections. He stumbles over himself and in the end, shows us that it's not the player in us that gets the girl, it's us being ourselves, quirks and all, that they want (throwing up now).

Will Smith can do it all and does it in Hitch. The movie is nothing new or profound...just a safe bet date movie worth admission.

Side Note: If you like this movie, you should also check out "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days."
