Matthew Jay Lives on in Final Album
By: Mark Runyon | Category: Music News | 04/15/05 | 09:30 AM

Late 2003 was a particularly tragic time for music as we lost two of its most promising young artists, Elliott Smith and Matthew Jay, in the span of a month. While Elliott Smith had an album (from a basement on the hill) finished and awaiting release at the time, allowing fans one last glimpse into this tormented soul, the same wasn't true of Jay. I made my way to Jay's website and discovered that another album, ...Too Soon, was released last October compiling early recordings and rarities available only via his web site.
