NBA Talent Without a Draft Card

It was an exciting night of NBA draft madness as Utah's Andrew Bogut took home top honors and the four horsemen of the Carolina Tarheels rounded out the top 14 picks of the first round. What is more interesting though are the players with NBA talent who closed the night without a team. Three of Kentucky's most promising stars (Hayes, Morris and Azubuike) were all overlooked in favor of foreign imports and unproven high school phenoms. Morris and Azubuike both killed their remaining college eligibility by going after the NBA gold. Given that Kentucky would have been stacked next year with them, and a possible national title contender, it is a decision that made no sense. Florida also suffered, losing their two scoring leaders, Walsh and Roberson, trying for early entry that suffered the same fate. The already weak SEC conference will be even more ailing after the shortsighted nature of these players.
