According to the Smoking Gun, Private Hendrix spent a little too much time with little Jimi for the Army's taste. They've uncovered Army documents assessing Hendrix to be a lackluster soldier who slept on the job, overlooked regulations and was caught pleasuring himself in the latrine. The more interesting part is the consequences of this event. Had he not gotten tossed from the Army, he would have gone to Vietnam. There is a good chance we may have never heard that magnificent Stratocaster blaring the birth of the epic guitarist.
