Online Only Music Label

To cope with and to take advantage of online music growth, Warner Music Group plans to launch a record label of emerging artists solely based off the web. This mean that new acts have more time to develop without the pressures of "having to churn out a slate of hits." Forget CD's and other typical records store products. The label will only distribute music online by releasing "'clusters' of three or more songs by an artist every few months. Warner hopes to have the label operating by the end of the year. Judging from the lack of news or buzz coming from Universal Music Group's all-digital label already in existence, this may not be the new revolution to combat online piracy for which labels have been hoping.
