The coveted British Mercury award went to unknown Antony and the Johnsons over more well known and higher acclaimed albums like the latest from Coldplay, Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs. While some controversy surrounds the British born, New York raised Antony, it was discovered that Hard-Fi lost by one measly vote. The eclectic rockers' brilliant Stars of CCTV definitely deserved to be in the final cut and in this reviewer's mind, only KT Tunstall and perhaps Kaiser Chiefs had better releases from the crop in question. Despite getting hosed by Mercury, Hard-Fi said they achieved their true quest of downing £20,000 worth of booze and getting completely plastered. Look for the review of Hard-Fi's Stars of CCTV coming next week.
