The creative genius behind Six Feet Under and American Beauty has just signed a two-year deal with his pals at HBO to develop a series based on the Southern Vampires novels by Charlaine Harris. Alan Ball will executive produce, write and direct the pilot for the blood sucking drama. He has also recently finished scripting Towelhead, a coming of age drama about an Arab American teenager.
