Coldplay Faces Copyright Suit

Guitarist Joe Satrini is suing Coldplay, saying their song “Viva La Vida” uses “substantial original portions” of his 2004 instrumental “If I Could Fly.” Satrini wants “any and all profits” from the alleged plagiarism. The band has responded “If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental and just as surprising to us as to him.” Much tamer than what Oasis’ response might have been to Satrini “Who the f$%k are you? Saw it off you old bugger.”
