The group last performed together at their induction ceremony to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Rumors have been running rampant for weeks that the band would reunite for a tour later this summer in commemoration of their 30-year anniversary.

Category: Music News
Posted by Mark Runyon | August 22, 2006 | 04:24 PM

Last week news came from the Keane camp that lead singer Tom Chaplin had been officially diagnosed with exhaustion. It now looks like drugs and alcohol may have been the root of the problem as he was admitted to rehab. "I've been having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out," Chaplin posted on the band's website. This unforeseen stop will postpone all the September dates on the band's North American tour. At the moment, the October dates remain unaltered. Keane's new album Under the Iron Sea entered the Billboard charts at number 4.

ABC Ditches Gibson's Holocaust Miniseries
Category: Television News
Posted by Mark Runyon | August 01, 2006 | 10:14 AM

After languishing two years in production without a script, ABC has decided to drop production on a Holocaust miniseries it was working on with Mel Gibson's production company. Just Friday, Gibson was arrested on DUI charges and reportedly launched into a crazy tirade about Jews, accusing the officer of being Jewish and that the Jews have started all wars. The Catholic actor apologized Saturday yet with a father who is a Holocaust denier it may fall on deaf ears. The incident has raised many questions concerning all of Gibson's future projects with his Icon Productions company. Gibson's delayed Mayan-language film Apocalypto is set for release December 8th.

Britney's Naked Again
Category: Fodder
Posted by Mark Runyon | June 30, 2006 | 04:17 PM

It seems everyone's favorite white trash celebrity just can't seem to keep her clothes on. Very pregnant and very much a brunette, Britney Spear's is appearing naked on the cover of this month's Harper's Bazaar magazine. The singer, who has been caught up in a whirlwind of controversy over dropping babies and her unstable relationship with sewer rat K-Fed, seems to be courting the limelight again. I guess after you make a blinding fool out of yourself on national TV, you have to have something to dose the flames.

The forefathers of indie-rock, the Pixies, have revealed that the much rumored sixth studio album is not to be. Frontman Frank Black said that he had written a handful of songs earlier this year in the hopes of getting Kim Deal on board with the new work. "I tried to find my Pixies muse and write a so-called Pixies number but they weren't any good," Black told Billboard. "They sounded a little contrived or something. That's the problem with trying to repeat something you did a long time ago." Black just released his latest solo work Fast Man Raider Man last week and intends to tour with Foo Fighters later in the summer.

The Coreys are Back 80s Lovers
Category: Television News

Corey Feldmen and Corey Haim defined cheesy 80s teen film like License to Drive and the Lost Boys are in the running for a come back. A new show called the Coreys is being shopped around Tinseltown. The two would play fictionalized versions of themselves yet in keeping with their real lives. Haim has struggled since his hayday with drugs and his finances while Feldmen has taken a try at music and kept racking up resume credits with random roles. It should be crap television at its best.

After a seven-day stay in the water bubble, world record chaser and publicity hound, David Blaine, came up short. He held his breath for 7 minutes and 8 seconds, a full minute and fifty seconds short of the record. The fruit loop didn't need to stay submerged for six days to conquer the record, but it looked more sensational for the ABC special David Blaine: Drowned Alive. Its not known if his failed attempt will push him on to take on the challenge again.

Colbert Roasts Bush
Category: Television News
Posted by Mark Runyon | May 02, 2006 | 03:11 PM

Guests at the White House Correspondent's Association dinner got a little more than they bargained for from the Comedy Central fake new show host, Stephen Colbert, Saturday night. Colbert stayed in character all evening, firing off stinging satirical statements concerning the president and the press. Colbert told Bush to ignore his lousy approval ratings because they were based on reality "and reality has a well-known liberal bias." As for the presses' role in government, he quipped, "the president makes decisions . . . the press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions." In your spare time, he advised them, "write that novel you got kicking around in your head -- you know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know -- fiction." Bush and first lady Laura were among the 2600 in attendance and were reportedly not amused by Colbert's comments.

Well it seems K-Fed has knocked up Britney Spears yet again according to US Weekly. Brit was evidently seen noticeably pregnant poolside at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas over the weekend, and the magazine's sources confirmed the suspicion. Rumors of her pregnancy with a second child surfaced in February and were shot down by her publicist, but the new report has them pretty tight lipped. I hope the couple isn't counting on K-Fed's burgeoning rap career to keep this kid in diapers.

In a recent interview with Kiefer Sutherland, it was revealed that 24 is preparing a leap to the big screen. Sutherland said, "The script is actually in development right now. It's something that we would shoot for doing next summer, during the next break." Much like the X-Files film, the television series will still continue to put Jack Bauer in mission impossible type situations. The film will just serve as an added adventure. Unlike the show, the film will crunch the normal 24 hour block into the standard 2 hour feature. Sutherland, who recently signed a deal making him the highest paid television actor, is gearing up for another secret agent adventure in the upcoming film The Sentinel co-starring Michael Douglas.
